The alchemist Book Summary

The Alchemist Part I

This story is about a Shepard boy named Santiago.  He lived in Andalucia, Spain and used to feed sheep.  Once, while grazing his sheets, he reached some place where he met a beautiful girl with black hair of a shopkeeper who used to come to buy them.  Santiago liked that girl very much and like every time this year too, he was thinking of going back to the same place in the hope of meeting that girl.  He used to roam around in the hinterland area of Spain where there was no shortage of grass and water.

He used to keep a jacket to avoid the cold in the night, but there was a lot of heat during the day, so he did not like to carry around with the jacket.  "But one must remain ready for any change in life, whether day or night or big things in life", he himself used to say as the jacket kept him from freezing at night.  The boy's family wanted him to become a Priest but that boy was very fond of traveling, so he became a shepherd so that he could always roam around with his sheets.  He had the same dream twice when he was sleeping in a broken room in a church where a big tree had grown.  Then she met a Mystic Lady in a town named Taarifa, which used to say the meaning of dreams.

So that gypsy woman told that boy's dream meaning that he should go to the pyramid of Egypt where he will find a treasure.  And when he gets that treasure, then he gives the tenth part of it to the Gypsy Lady as a fee.  But that boy did not pay much attention to this and started walking in the town.  Then he got an old man.  At first, Santiago had no interest in talking to him, but that old men's wizard impressed him and they both started talking.  That old man told that he is the king of Salem.  He also helped Santiago to reach his dream.  He also told Santiago that he often helps people in some way to reach their destination.

Now that Santiago had given up before reaching his destination, so he came to him to show him the right path.  That old man told him that life always gives us some sign or clues so that we can choose the right direction.  Then he told Santiago that he would have to pay the tenth part of his sheets as a fee for the remaining guidance lesson.  The next day Santiago met the old man at fix time who gave him two stones.  One of them was Stone Black and the other was White.  The old man told Santiago that if he ever had any confusion in search of his destination, he could take his decision with the help of these two stones.

He also advised her that if she sees a good omen, then take care who will help her reach her destination.  Then suddenly a butterfly flew over the face of Santiago, who was a good omen.  And then the same day that boy reached a place named Tangier of Efrika.  He was sitting there at a time that a man came to him.  The man asked him in Spanish what he had come to do in this new place.  Now it was another omen for that boy.  Santiago told him that he had to go to the pyramids and if the man made a guide and took him to the place, he would give him money.  The man disappeared from the busy market with money from Santiago and kept looking at Santiago.

He was very sad, then suddenly he remembered those two stones.  When he took those strings out of his pocket, he remembered that old man.  The old man had said, "If you want something from the heart, all this work helps him to join you". Looking at those two stents, Santiago felt as if that old man was with him like a spirit and treasured him.  Inspiring to proceed in the pursuit of.  Despite losing his money, Santiago did not give up and somehow managed to survive in that strange city with his shipyard experience.  Now his self-confidence and confidence became even stronger.

Then he got a crystal cellar.

Santiago told the crystal cellar that if he could feed him, he could do some of his work in return.  The shop keeper got him lunch and then asked him to clean the glass items kept in his shop.  While he was cleaning the glassware, two customers came to the shop at the same time and bought some goods.  Now that shop owner also used to live in omen, he hired Santiago forever.  But Santiago did not have to work there, he needed money to go to the pyramids.  Listening to him, he laughed at the shop and he told that the pyramids are thousands of kilometers away and a lot of money is needed to get there.  Hearing this, the intention of Santiago started to change, he thought why not earn so much money by working that he would go back to his native place and buy the sheets and start the work of shipyard again.

The alchemist Book Summary Part II

The boy wanted to build a new cabinet for the crystals so that he could earn a lot of money as soon as possible and go back to his town and start the work of shipyard.  The shop keeper obeyed him because he had Simpathy from Santiago.  He himself had been dreaming of going to Mecca for many years but had never been able to go, so he wanted to at least fulfill the wish of Santiago.  Therefore, he advised Santiago that he should sell tea in crystal glasses to attract more customers.  Although his shop was doing well and he had no need to expand the shop by working hard, he still agreed to help Santiago.

Because in the Destiny of Santiago this decision of that shop keeper was also contributed.  And this decision brought a big change because by selling tea in crystal glass, this shop became very famous and it got a huge commercial success.  When Santiago got a lot of money, he took the decision to return to his home.  But before leaving, he wanted to get the blessings from the shopkeeper.  The shop keeper gave him the blessing and also proclaimed that Santiago would not be able to go back to Spain.

Santiago collected all his belongings and also kept the two stones of the King in his pocket.  As soon as he agreed to go to Andalusia, then he got a thought.  Whatever had happened to him so far, he thought about it all.  He suddenly realized that he could go to his country and become a sheephard, but he would not get the chance to go to the pyramids again.  He thought about seeing those two stones given by the King.  He started looking at his decision.  Now he had changed his mind and set out to go to the pyramids.  He reached a ware house where he found an Englishman who was very much like Santiago.

The man also knew the two stones that were near Santiago.  This was an omen for Santiago.  Then both of them started walking along with a caravan going to Egypt, whose head was a bearded man.  The caravan was passing through a desert.  At first there was quite a stir in the caravan, but then everyone started walking quietly.  During the journey, Santiago became friends with his camel runner and both of them started telling each other about their lives.  Both realize a Philosophical Truth.  He felt as if Destiny has already planned everything because everything in life is related to something else.

In between the journeys, they also found Beduins, who were the Tribe's Mysteries Protector Tribe.  He used to alarm them about the dacoits of the Desert and the dangers coming up and disappear again.  Once, he also got the information that there was going to be a war between the tribals, which all the people were scared after hearing, but returning back was no longer possible.  And when it is not possible to go back, it is a possible way to keep moving forward.
